How to Make Email Links Open With Gmail in Chrome By Default

If you're using Google Chrome and want email links (mailto) to open directly in Gmail, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to Chrome Settings
- Launch the Chrome web browser.
- In the top right corner of the browser screen, click on the three gray dots to open the "Settings" menu.
- Click on "Settings" to access the Chrome settings page.
2. Launch Privacy and Security Menu
- On the settings page, scroll down to find the "Privacy and security" section.
- Click on "Site settings," indicated by a gray arrow on the right side of the menu option.
- Locate "Additional permissions" and click on the gray downward-facing arrow to expand the menu.
3. Set Default Settings
- In the "Additional permissions" menu, scroll down to find the "Protocol handlers" option.
- Click on the gray right-facing arrow to expand the "Protocol handlers" menu.
- Under "Default behavior," select the option "Sites can ask to handle protocols."
4. Allow Gmail to Open All Links
- Open your Gmail account in a new tab.
- On the right side of the URL's address bar, an icon with two intertwined diamonds will appear.
- Click on this icon to get a pop-up menu asking, "Allow mail.google.com to open all links?"
